Here are the top rated coffee makers of 2013. In order to be included on this list, every model has to meet the following criteria:
- have at least have 50 user reviews
- have at least a 4.2 out of 5 star rating
- maintain a buyer satisfaction ratio of at least 80%
- have a good record for reliability and performance
I also take into account not just the ratings products get, but also their long term reliability and how well they fulfill the needs of their buyers.
The list starts with a single cup coffee maker and works its way up to a 14-cup in order to cover 2013’s top rated coffee makers in all the popular size segments.

Keurig has a few single serve models available, but the K45 Elite strikes the perfect balance between price and features. With three selectable brew sizes (6, 8 and 10 oz) you can have as big a cup of coffee as you please.
The 48-ounce water reservoir should get most coffee drinkers through the day without having to refill it. The unit works with Keurig's K-cups, and there is a huge variety to choose from.
The K45 Elite is great value for money. Also consider the Keurig K65, which is programmable and has a larger water reservoir and adjustable brew temperature.

In the 4-5 cup segment there are very few truly consistent models, but the one that stands out is the Zojirushi Zutto, a 5-cup drip coffee maker.
Using an unusual brewing system where the filter cone actually sits inside the carafe instead of being part of the machine, this 650W model makes an esxcellent, hot cup of coffee. Other nice features include a removable water reservoir for easy filling.
There's not a lot of bells and whistles to this. It's a straightforward, well constructed on/off coffee maker. The engineering is well ahead of other competing models in the 4/5 cup segment of the market, but you will have to pay substantially more for the pleasure of owning it.
An easy to use, well designed coffee maker.

In the 8-cup segment the standout and best-rated product is the Bonavita BV1800TH. This powerful 1400W unit generates plenty of heat and features a stainless steel thermal carafe (although a glass carafe model is also available). With one of the most effective shower heads ever on a drip coffee maker, you get a carafe of hot, rich and flavorful coffee.
The unit comes with a 2-year warranty. Some may find the price a little steep, but keep in mind that this product is certified by the Specialty Coffee Association of America.
This is a high quality coffee maker, but care should be taken with the glass-lined thermal carafe as it is quite fragile.

This is a small commercial brewer from Bunn, hence the stiff price tag. It features a very solid all stainless steel construction and harkens back to the coffee makers of old which just seemed to last forever.
This is a heavy duty unit, but it is quite suitable for home use as well. It does have a learning curve, but once you have it figured out it will produce pot after pot of excellent coffee without asking questions.
This is a pour-over coffee machine, not an automatic, so it won't be for everyone. Make sure you know what you're getting before you buy.

This machine is unlike anything else I've come across: a double-whammy single-serve and 12-cup brewer in one. This is a nice convenience.
You get both a 12-cup glass carafe and a 14 oz. stainless steel travel mug. You even have two separate water reservoirs. The single-serve side can use either ground coffee or soft pods.
It is fully programmable, features brew strength settings and so far, the majority of buyers love it. The most common complaint is that the single serve side brews quite slowly.

The DCC-2600 is one of Cuisinart's finest coffee makers. Not without its flaws, but with a full range of features and great performance it's a real crowd pleaser. With a 14-cup capacity you also get plenty of coffee in one go.
Fully programmable with a host of adjustable settings (warming plate temperature, brew strength, 1 to 4 cup setting), you have great freedom with this machine.
